3 Easy Drawing Projects For Kids Using Crayons
Quick! The kids need something creative and screen free to do, but you don't have a craft-store-aisle supply of art materials on hand... or any time to prep a project.
Never fear, The Fairy Tale Art Cart is here!
Here's 3 easy drawing projects for kids that use two simple, classic art materials that are usually on hand.
All you need: PAPER & CRAYONS!
Create a monotone drawing
Place a container of mixed-up crayons on the table and challenge your kids to pick one color and find at least three shades of that color in the jumble. Once they've found at least three shades of their selected color, challenge them to create a drawing on any theme, but the drawing should fill the whole page. Younger kids might enjoy drawing their favorite place or thing to do on a Saturday. Older elementary-middle school students might enjoy trying a mono-tone self portrait.
Create a rainbow effect
Place that jumble of crayons on the table, and inform your kids that they now have all the poewr of a rainbox in their hands! Tell your kids to select at minimum 3 colors, and draw with all those crayons in their hand at the same time. A great drawing theme prompt for this is: lines. What kind of lines can your rainbow become? Swirly? Zig-Zaggy? What do the lines look like when you try 4 crayons? 5? 6?!!!
Put crayons and paper on the table & pop on an episode of The Fairy Tale Art Cart!
